Man brutally kills his underage cousin after being barred from marrying her

A 23-year-old man has been captured by police in Gem, Siaya County, after he severely killed his 15-year-old cousin in the wake of being stoped from marrying her.

The adolescent young girl recognized as Margaret Auma was a Form Two student at Sirembe Secondary School.

The young girl’s parents had denounced their relationship.

The suspect on Monday evening tricked Auma into a bush by her home in Sinderma Village and lethally cut her multiple times with a kitchen knife after the girl allegedly turned down his advances.

The man fled the scene leaving a piece of love note by the girl’s dead body, expressing the much he was in love with the perished.

“I was madly in love with you but I had to do this. Till we meet again. I will join you soon,” said the brief note.

The note is presently being kept by the police.

The man was taken to Yalla Police Station after he was captured at a hideout in Wagai Village.

Affirming the incident, Gem Deputy County Commissioner Geoffrey Mayama said they got information from Central Gem Location Chief Barack Oloo.

Mayama said the suspect had been previously been arrested and accused of an instance of defiling the girl in Siaya Law Courts however was out on bond.

The girl’s parents were yesterday unable to address the media due to the emotional pains they were experiencing.
