Machakos County Deputy Governor has been impeached as the County Executive Committee member in charge of Finance.

Machakos County Assembly members approved a report by the Ad-hoc board on the impeachment of Mr. Maliti.

35 MCAs voted to impeach the Deputy Governor as the Finance boss, none opposed and 24 MCAs absconded.

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua reiterated that the impeachment was politically triggered and plans by his political enemies to water down his leadership. Mutua also assured Mr. Maliti that he will continue serving as the Machakos County Finance CEC.

The governor said that the MCAs want Matili out to hide their fraudulent deals. Governor Mutua had requested Auditor General Services in a full financial audit. This is said to have given some MCAs hot stomachs.

Governor Mutua promised to fight back corruption and forward the names of corrupt lawmakers to EACC for further action. He has also promised to involve the DCI.

Matungulu MCA Cosmas Masesi had accused Maliti of failing to discharge his duties at the tiller of the Finance docket.

Governor Mutua says that Maliti had written to the county assembly requesting them to arrange properly their financial reports, expenditure and other relevant financial documents.
