Kenyans roast MP Didmus Barasa over Sh1 million promise

Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa on Friday found himself on the receiving end after he promised to dish out Sh1 million to residents.

The MP, in an apparent showoff, took to Twitter to state how he had received his salary and therefore would share it amongst Kimilili residents.

“My people of Kimilili I thank you for voting me in. Since elections I have done nothing for you,” he said.

However, Kenyans on Twitter descended on the lawmaker with all manner of salvos.

@ArujiMc: You should chanel that money into something that will help the community than kuwagawia hyo pesa kila mtu aende na 100
@engGeoffreykim: Now this is hon. Titimus parasas’ handwriting and voice.

Zile post zingine with refined Swahili and English huwa za handler….kwanza hapo kwa “sisitahili”, “mushahara”, “mukiniona”, “mukuje”, “muchukue”, “mugawane”.
Kitu tu umesahau Parasa Ni jina “NDIPOSA”. Rutia uchumbe!
@Juliusnasinya: What about the family of that young man you shot and killed I thought ungesema u are remorseful and that they need that 1m
@Kipkijo: Watagawana based on what? Why don’t you give it as bursary in small amounts of Kes 10,000? That will serve at least 100 households.

Mr. Barasa was elected to serve his second term in the just concluded general elections.

However, his closest competitor, Brian Khaemba, has since challenged the outcome in court.

The MP is out on bond over a murder case, involving the alleged murder of one Brian Olunga, Khaemba’s aide.

The MP was barred from appearing in Bungoma county by the court.

  1. The man was banned from going to his constituency following his murder case. To jump the gun he promises his people 1 million to share immediately he appears in his constituency.strategy his constituents call for his homecoming to prove his popularity to the court that barred him from going to the scene of crime.
