KCSE candidate delivers minutes to exam

A KCSE candidate gave birth to a baby boy on Thursday. 20 year-old student from Kirinyaga County surprised fellow students when she gave birth an hour before the set examination start time.

KCSE candidate Lillian Wanjira, a student at Gacharu Day Mixed Secondary School, gave birth while in the school.

She was rushed to Sagana Sub-County Hospital at 7:30am by her teacher and the sister in-law.

The Senior Doctor who is also in charge of Sagana Sub-County Hospital, Dr Peter Olyam, said preparations were made by Gacharu Secondary School and KCSE supervisors to ensure Ms.Wanjira was able to write the exam, which began at 8:30am.

“We are happy that she decided to carry the pregnancy to term, without trying to abort it,” said her brother Mbogo Mwaniki.
