“Kavindu’s win is a bad indication for Muthama’s UDA ahead of 2022”, senator says

Wiper’s Party Candidate Agness Kavindu has on Friday 19th March been declared Machakos County Senator after she floored UDA’s Urbanus Ngengele.

UDA, a party linked to Deputy President William Ruto and headed by Johnstone Muthama had high hopes that it would clinch the seat especially because Machakos is the home to Muthama.

However, the outcome was different, with Kavindo having a landslide win after she garnered 104,080 votes against Ngengele who only garnered 19,705.

While responding after the results Ngengele conceded defeat revealing that the race was fair and that Kavindu won squarely. He revealed that it was his first time to vie, something that he is preparing him for 2022 since he’ll be vying for the same seat.

While Ngengele remains exited that the By-elections gave him an opportunity to populize himself ahead of 2022, his party UDA is not happy.

Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua who was reacting to the developments have revealed that Kavindu’s win is not a good indication to UDA.

The senator has opined that Wiper’s Victory in Machakos is an indication that the region is not ready for new party’s like UDA.

“Wiper’s win by a landslide is an indication that the people of Ukambani region rejected political merchants who are masquerading as leaders but keen on auctioning the community,” Wambua said.

However, Elgeyo marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen does not agree with Wambua. According to Murkomen the type of resilience UDA has envisaged during the recent by elections including Machakos has shown that UDA is a party capable of being a national party.

“In Machakos,Matungu,Kabuchai Msambweni&Nakuru,UDA a new Party, has demonstrated its credentials as a national Party with no tribal/regional boundaries.Congratulations Sen.Muthama,MPs Munyaka,Kawaya,Mbai&team for the great work in Masaku.Let’s keep making our democracy stronger”, tweeted Murkomen.
