AFC Leopards leading scorer John Makwatta will not play against Nzoia Sugar at Mumias Sports Complex, the club has confirmed through their website.

Makwatta and Washington Munene, are expected to miss the tie due to various illnesses.

Defender Soter Kayumba, Vincent Habamahoro and Paul Were were not named on the traveling squad. Reports indicate that they have asked to quit the club due to unpaid salaries.

In the meantime, Leopards skipper Robinson Kamura has asked the fans to continue suporing the team as they try to get positive results despite the financial challenges.

“We appreciate our fans’ support and we ask them to keep the faith and continue supporting the team we all love. Fans really motivate us during our matches,” Kamura said.

“I believe with fans’ support things will be a bit easier as we wait for a sponsor to come on board. Let them keep on supporting the team as we’re in a very bad state at the moment.”

Ingwe beat Kisumu All-Stars 1-0 in their last match.
