Holiday extended as schools opening date extended

The holiday and the opening dates of schools have been extended.

Ministry of Education Director General Elyas Abdi, said in statement that the move has been taken to allow more time for both teachers and learners to travel from where they spent their holidays to their places of work and study respectively.

Pre-primary schools, Primary schools, Secondary schools and Teacher Training Colleges will now open for first term 2019 on 3rd January, 2019. You are requested to bring this information to the attention of all Heads of Basic Education institutions,” a part of the statement read.

On the same issue, after release of the KCPE results, form one students are to report to  schools they were called in between 7th to 10th January 2019.

The selection for form one students was completed 4th December 2018.

The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) was also released on 21st December where students who scored a mean grade of A plain were 315.

Those who qualified for University cut off of C+ and above increased to 90,377 from 70.073 last year.
