President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday cautioned that the make easy money mindset is demolishing Kenya by sustaining graft, looting of public assets and related economic violations.

The President pointed out that the high hunger for brisk wealth is to a great extent to fault for the rising instances of Government authorities taking part in the robbery of public funds.

He prompted Kenyans, at all dimensions of society, to have honest lives and to search for wealth through diligent work.

“We will not reach where we want to reach as a nation if we do not abandon the get rich quick mentality,” said the President.

The Head of State called for the unity of Kenyans in the fight against corruption because it is jeopardising the progress of the nation.

“We have no other option but to fight corruption because Kenyans need roads, hospitals and jobs. The taxes we collect from Kenyans must work for the public,” said the President.

Uhuru said his government has patched up the battle against coruption via completing changes at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

He said the DCI is working energetically to uncover corruption and the ODPP is taking numerous graft related cases to the courts.

The President was speaking at Gitui Village in Muranga County amid the memorial service of Mzee Kamau Kabugi. He said the legal executive needs to assume an increasingly positive job in the war against corruption since Kenyans consider them to be the weakest connection.
