The Confederation of African Football (Caf) has called off the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier pitting Kenya and Sierra Leone that was scheduled to be played on Sunday at Kasarani, Nairobi.

Caf issued a statement on Sunday night that the match has been cancelled because Sierra Leone are still suspended by Fifa.

“Seeing that Sierra Leone is still under suspension by Fifa, please note that the above-mentioned match will not take place,” read part of the letter.

In a letter signed by Khaled Nassar from the Caf;s Competitions Division, the status of this group will be announced later.

“The status of the group will be communicated later on once the competent body takes a final decision on this regard,” Caf said.

Kenya leads Group F with seven points ahead of this weekend’s matches.

Ghana is second in the group with three points, same as Ethiopia.

Sierra Leone also did not play their double-header fixture against Ghana last month due to the suspension by Fifa.

Incase Sierra Leone are kicked out, Kenya will remain with seven points heading into the last qualifier matches in March, 2019.

Ghana will be second in the group relying upon the results of their match against Ethiopia this this end of the week.

Ethiopia will be ripped off the three points they earned against Sierra Leone.

In such a case, Stars will automatically grab one of the two positions to 2019 Afcon finals in Cameroon.

Harambee Stars last featured in the Afcon finals in 2004 in Tunisia.
