Governor Sonko pleads not guilty to crime charges

Nairobi County Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko and eight others who were accused alongside him have denied corruption charges and other economic crimes labeled against them at Milimani Law Courts, Nairobi.

Mike Sonko alongside the Web Tribe Ltd directors has been accused of graft and deals to dupe the county administration of Sh24 million.

The charge sheet organizes the other 15 charges of conflict of interest including Sonko and Web Tribe Ltd, ROG Security Ltd associated with Antony Otieno Ombok among other organizations and their directors.

Prevalently, under the charge of conflict of interest, the county chief is accused of receiving Sh1 million from Yira Enterprises in deals that involved hiring heavy equipment from the county administration.

Under the charge of conflict of interest, Mike Sonko has been accused of obtaining Sh1 million from Fredrick Odhiambo of Yiro Enterprises on various occasions, despite realizing that the money were proceeds of crime.

The governor additionally faces charges of illegal tax avoidance and receiving proceeds of crime from Hardi Enterprises Ltd and Toddy Civil Engineering Ltd associated with Antony Mwaura Ng’ang’a and Rose Njeri Ng’ang’a.
