Father and daughter linked to murder of Nanyuki businessman detained for more days

A man and his daughter who were arrested in connection with the murder of a businessman in Nanyuki, Laikipia County will continue staying in police cells for two more weeks.

A court in Nanyuki permitted the prosecution to detain the suspects until investigations are concluded.

The accused, Charles Macharia and his daughter Jane Wanjiku were presented before Nanyuki Magistrate Njeri Thuku yet did not take plea.

Jane Wanjiku, requested the court to free her father, on grounds that he had nothing to do with the killing of businessman George Mwangi Gachibi.

Police report says the suspects were found with a vehicle and electronic goods stolen from the George Gachibi.

Gachibi’s employees went to look for him at his home after he failed to report to work and their calls went unanswered.

His lifeless body was found lying in a pool of blood on Tuesday by his workers.

According to the Laikipia County Criminal Investigations Officer, Peter Muinde, police arrested the two suspects at Kirwara area in Thika Sub-County, after tracing the vehicle signal.

The suspects will appear in court on December 20, 2018 to take plea.

They are facing charges of murder and robbery with violence.
