Ex KDF Chief Samson Mwathethe appointed as KenGen Chairman

Kenya Electrical Generating Company (KenGen) has appointed Ex KDF Chief Gen Samson Mwathethe as a new chair, replacing the retired Joshua Choge who served in the position since January 3rd, 2014.

Mwathethe was appointed on the 67th Annual General Meeting that was held by the company, which declared total dividend of sh.1.65 billion for shareholders.

He is the immediate former Chief of Defence forces of the Republic of Kenya who retired on May 2020 after serving for five years in the capacity.

According to KenGen board, while announcing the appointment, the former General will bring immense wealth of experience in strategy and leadership to the table.

“Under General Mwathethe’s leadership, KenGen is commited to strengthening its stakeholder relations as we continue to build emerging technological advancements and social trends.” Said KenGen Managing Director Rebecca Miano.

“KenGen is delighted to welcome General Mwathethe as a new chairman,” she added.

General Mwathethe has held various command appointments including Vice Chief of the Defence Forces, Commander of the Kenya Navy, Deputy Commander Kenya Navy, Kenya Navy Logistics Commander and Fleet Commander.

Joshua Choge who was replaced by Mwathethe retired from the position and he was drawn from the management and leadership field.
