Emery fired as Ljungberg takes over as new Arsenal manager

Arsenal Football Club are expected to relieve Unai Emery of his duties shortly after his 18 month stint hit a nadir on Thursday night with a 2-1 home defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.

The defeat against Frankfurt was witnessed in front of one of the lowest crowds in the history of the Emirates Stadium.

Freddie Ljungberg is set to be appointed as caretaker, starting with Sunday’s trip to Norwich.

The patience of Arsenal management died after fans united in their demand for Emery to be sacked.

Arsenal are enduring their worst run of form since 1992 and are winless in seven games. Players are bemused by his tactics.
