The deadline for reforms in operators motorcycle taxis, commonly known as boda bodas to get training, licences, and protective gear has been extended to May next year, Interior PS Karanja Kibicho.

Mr Kibicho on Tuesday said the operators will be required to be compliant from May 1, 2019 following a four-month extension from January 1, 2019.

This comes amid uproars from the boda boda owners of harrasment like bad omen by the traffic officers and city inspectorate.

The PS said the extension followed a consultative meeting with stakeholders including, the Interior ministry, Transport ministry, the parliamentary caucus on transport and the National Transport and Safety Authority.
