DCI given permission to arrest Matiang’i over fraud

Senate Public Accounts and Investment Committee unanimously supported the report to prosecute Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i over Sh1.5 million Ruaraka land saga.

Both majority and minority leadership agreed to have the report paved to allow DCI to investigate and arrest Matiang’i and Education PS Belio Kipsang for ignoring advice by Quality Assurance and Assessment Committee.

“We want the DCI, EACC to do a thorough job in this matter. They should not prosecute the big fish just because they want to be seen to be working. Evidence should guide them in their investigations and prosecutions,” said Kipchumba Murkomen

“It will be unfair for us to reject the report as senators because most of the information came from people serving Government. The report is credible and all senators should support it.” Siaya Senator James Orengo said.

Former Kitutu Masaba Member of Parliament Timothy Bosire has backed the report saying the report gives DCI and DPP a chance to demonstrate to Kenyans that they are serious in the war against corruption.

“Integrity and effective leadership, and a possibility of achieving the desired development in society. He should explain to Kenyans where he breaks the same law which he wants us to adhere to,” he said

The two protagonists are said to be eyeing Nyamira gubernatorial seat currently held by Governor John Nyagarama who is serving his last term.
