Charles Wafula approved as new clerk to Bungoma Assembly

Charles Wanjala Wafula has been unanimously approved to take up the position of Clerk to the County Assembly of Bungoma.

Mr. Wafula was approved during a House sitting on Tuesday 8th November, 2022.

This was after his name was presented to County Assembly for approval by the County Assembly Service Board (CASB).

The position was previously held by Mr. John Kennedy Mosongo from 2013 to 9th Feb 2022 when he proceeded on early retirement.

The motion was moved by Leader of Majority Joseph Juma Nyongesa to have the name of Mr. Wafula approved as per the report by CASB.

“CASB considered requirements in the advertisement, score-ship, principles, organ of the constitution, motivation of staff, values and principles of public service, legal and administrative framework to assess suitability of the candidates,” Nyongesa stated.

Out of 100 applicants who had applied for the position, only 4 eligible candidates were shortlisted for the position namely Charles Wanjala Wafula, Calistus Wekesa Waswa, Ibrahim Mutwiri Kirimi and Albert Wamalwa Namachanja.

They were then subjected to interviews on 3rd of November, 2022.

Mr. Wafula emerged successful in the just concluded recruitment process conducted by County Assembly Service Board.

Mr. Wafula had served in acting capacity as County Assembly Clerk for 10 months.

“Mr. Wafula is equal to the task in performing the role of the Clerk which is to advice the Speaker on key issues and handle welfare of the Hon Members and staff,” said Maraka MCA Ali Machani.
