APPLE IS FACING the possibility of paying hefty fines and an imminent ban in Brazil for selling iPhones in the Brazilian market without accompanying adapters (chargers).

Brazil’s Ministry of Justice has slapped a $2.34 million fine and stopped sales of all iPhone models that don’t include a power adapter.

Apple stated that it would work to resolve the concerns of the National Consumer Secretary (SENACON), a department within the Ministry of Justice that decided on the fine.

The fine remains in abeyance until the Ministry verifies that Apple circumvented the sales ban.

Apple is selling an incomplete product by not including the charge adapter and hasn’t proven whether removing the charger had any supposed environmental benefits that Apple used to sell its decision.
