A 17-year-old boy is being held by police in Gilgil for stabbing to death his neighbour , 35, over a tin of maize.

He stabbed the father of three on the chest in Kongasis. as he was being taken to Elementaita Police Post.

According to a neighbor, the boy stormed the victim’s home and broke into his maize store.

The owner raised an alarm of a thief in his compound after hearing the commotion.

Peter Mwaura, a neighbour who responded to the distress call, said they found the minor with the packet.

It was while they were taking the minor to a police station that he overpowered them and stabbed his neighbour on the chest before fleeing.
