A female administration police officer is nursing serious injuries in Bomet County after a boda boda operator allegedly ran her over.

The man apparently hit her to avoid being checked at a road block on the Silibwet – Litein road.

“The operator is well known to us, the law is very clear, we will do our work as per the constitution. He will be arrested once he regains consciousness,” Bomet Central police Boss Samson Rukunga said.

The operator who was also injured in the incident was admitted to Silibwet Heath Center, a few kilometers from the scene.

Reports indicate that the man had been flagged down but proceeded to where the officer was standing and hit her.

Other officers immediately rushed her to Tenwek Hospital.

The female officer is attached to Silibwet AP camp is said to be responding well to treatment.

This comes in the wake of recent complaints of increased attacks on police officers by civilians.

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has since warned members against engaging in such ‘criminal’ acts.

“IPOA strongly condemns these attacks….With a serving Police Service and a robust Judiciary in place, it is unacceptable for anyone to take the law into their own hands,” the agency said.
