Athletics Kenya to replace athletes graduated to senior category

Athletics Kenya is aiming to hold a national competition at the end of this month or early next month to replace the Athletes who graduated to senior category as they plan for next year’s World Athletics Under- 20 competitions.

Kenya will host the Championships that occurs after every two years in Nairobi from 17 – 22 August net year after COVID 19 forced World Athletics to postpone the event which was initially planned to kick off From July in Nairobi this year.

Paul Mutwii who is the vice president of Ak, has Told radio Halisi that that they want to select a strong team for Competition.

‘’We are going to have a tough  competition to determine who is eligible for the World Championships next year because most of the athletes who were going to compete in July this year have now graduated,” Ak Vice president said.

Mutwii has added that the exact dates for the Competition will be known by Tomorrow.

According to the rules of World Athletics, those who are eligible to compete must of age between 16, 17, 18 or 19 on 31, December 2021.

Kenya has dominated the world contests four times – in Santiago, Chile (2000), Beijing, China (2006), Moncton, Canada (2010) and Tampere, Finland (2018).
