AFC Leopards intensify race for striker and goalkeeper to shape squad ahead of the new season

AFC Leopards will complete the signing of two new players before the week ends, the club secretary General Oscar Igaida says.

According to Igaida the club has earmarked a striker and a goalkeeper as they race to get their squad in shape ahead of the new season that kicks off on December 8.

“We are almost finalizing the signing of one international goalkeeper and a striker before midweek. I won’t disclose their names but the deal will be done soonest,” he bullishly charged.

Igwe have so far lost skipper Duncan Otieno who joined the Zambian Nkana FC, while forward Alex Orotomol joined St Georges of Ethiopia.

Ingwe will face Kariobangi Sharks in their season opener. They have so far released Ray Omondi, Edwin Mukolwe and Mike Kibwage.

According to Igaida, the players signed are those recommended by the technical bench.

“The new coach will take charge of the mid-season transfers. For now we are getting players that the technical bench recommended,”added Igaida .

Leopards appointed immediate former Township Rollers head coach Nikola Kavazovic as their new team manager on a two year deal.

Kavazovic replaced Argentine Rodolfo Zapata who was dismissed for dismal performance.
