93-year old woman finally buried 17 years after her death

The reason behind the suicide has not been established.

Esther Nzakwa Kitivo died on August 31, 2004 and her burial was not done due to a prolonged land dispute.

Nzakwa’s body which has been lying at Machakos funeral home since her death, was on Saturday buried at her son’s home pending the determination of an ongoing land case.

Her burial ceremony was conducted in less than an hour under police security.

For the 17 years her remains were lying at the mortuary, the charges piled up to over Ksh.3 million. The family is now calling on well wishers to help them in offsetting the bill.

The late was the first of three wives of Gideon Kitivo Ndambuki, who passed on aged 100 on December 13, 2000.
