53 patients died in Taita Taveta amid nurses’ strike

No less than 53 patients passed on in Taita Taveta County over the 22 days nurses were on strike.

Health services official Daniel Mwakisha said the quantity of deaths is as at Friday a week ago.

“We have collected this data from Moi County Referral Hospital, Wesu Hospital and Taveta Hospital morgues. By Friday, 53 bodies had been brought for preservation in the mortuaries.”

Mwakisha spoke to journalists in Wundanyi amid the signing of back to work agreement with the Kenya Union of Nurses Taita Taveta branch officials.

Health attendants in the county are relied upon to resume work after their strike was canceled.
