Two people died and three others injured after a lorry transporting miraa collided with a matatu on Mwea-Embu road in Kirinyaga County on Monday morning.

Witnesses said two lorries transporting miraa were overtaking each other at Nyamindi area when one of them slammed into the Neno Sacco matatu from the back. The matatu was making a beeline for Embu from Nairobi.

Two people passed on the spot while the three survivors were raced to the Embu County Hospital by a Good Samaritan.

Cops are as of now seeking after the lorry driver who sped off after the occurrence.

The matatu has since been towed to Wang’uru Police Station.
