At least 14 people have died and a few others injured when an Eldoret Express bus crashed into a truck at Pala, about 3km from Awasi shopping centre in Kisumu County.
The accident occured at about 11:30pm on Thursday night, as indicated by witnesses.
Affirming the mishap, Kisumu County Police Commander Benson Maweu said they had tallied at least 13 bodies by 2:30am Friday.
“The bus was travelling from Kisumu towards Kericho on the Kisumu-Nairobi Highway when the driver tried to overtake a cane tractor and was involved in a head-on-collision with the trailer,” said Maweu.
Maweu further said the bodies retrieved from the wreck were taken to Ahero Sub-County Morgue, and victims were rushed to Ahero, Jaramogi and Muhoroni Hospitals for treatment.
